Return to MTW Missions in Japan!
Return Dates: May 13 - August 3, 2024
God has done wondrous works indeed. When I left Japan this past July, I sincerely hoped that my work there was not yet finished. I’ve been praying and thinking a lot about returning — and studying Japanese in the meantime, hoping that the Lord would guide me back one day! Sharing the gospel with a person (especially a Japanese person) is really a lifetime commitment, and I feel that I have only just begun sharing the gospel with many of my friends and neighbors in Japan. Although I don’t know what the far future holds, I’m incredibly excited that Mission To the World is inviting me serve again. I look forward to returning, more equipped and prepared make Christ known in Japan.
The biggest difference is that we are going back. Our MTW host missionary Abi Lowther recently told me, “Coming back breaks down so many barriers with the Japanese. By coming back, you are saying that you care about them, and that you love them enough to return to them.” If the Lord wills, we plan to do several things our team found effective last year: choreographing and performing ballets that tell Bible stories or portray different aspects of the gospel; teaching ballet classes, English classes, and Bible studies; traveling to revitalize and encourage churches; and handing out stickers to strangers on trains to start conversations about the gospel.
Japan is less than 1% Christian, and the majority of the population has never even heard of Jesus. I know why Japan is nicknamed “the Christian graveyard.” I have never experienced more spiritual warfare and opposition to Christianity in my life. It is not fertile soil for the gospel, so it must be plowed. It is easy to lose heart in a land where one human takes their own life every thirty minutes. Yet hope must be planted, one prayer at a time, one day at a time, and one missionary at a time.
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. — Romans 5:5
I’d love your prayers for God’s name to be magnified in Japan — and for God to provide for me to go! The cost to serve with MTW this summer is $11,314.52. This amount covers travel, ministry, and living expenses for the duration of the internship. It does not cover ballet classes, performing venues, pointe shoes, or rehearsal space, which are personal costs.
I cannot do this without financial and prayer partners. If you would like to be a part of Mission to the World’s ministry to Japan, simply fill out the pledge card attached to this page and mail it with your donation to the P.O. Box address listed on the card. All tax deductible donations should be made payable to Mission to the World and should include my MTW ministry account number (Acc #400750) in the memo line of the check.
